The busy streets of Shibuya, Tokyo

A month ago, I took the bold step to up sticks and fly over to Tokyo, Japan. I am now living and working in this interesting and unique country teaching English (cliche, I know).

Myself looking very happy that I arrived just in time for Hanami

The┬ábasic skeleton of Tokyo is pretty similar to London; a sprawling metropolis populated predominantly with professionals in their 20s and 30s. But a combination of Japanese culture, values and way of operating makes this place far more than just a concrete jungle, but also far different from cities on a similar scale – London and New York for instants.

A raccoon statue outside an Izakaya (Japanese bar). One of my students told me thee are so common because his swollen stomach is a symbol of having too much beer and being satisfied

So, instead of using this blog to narrate the goings on in London, I am now switching to Tokyo and will hopefully be more productive with my articles and writing.

But for now, I have got to rush; time to go out and get some tempura!!
